How BWB Works β€” Quote, Schedule,
Lay, Done

No mystery. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you call BWB to the moment you sign off on a finished slab. Same nine steps whether it's a driveway in Erina or a kerb pour for Council. 30+ years on the Coast doing it this way.

A real human answers your call. Glenn or one of the crew picks up, not a call centre. Free site visit, written quote.

From first call to final walk-through

Most contractors keep this fuzzy. We don't. Here are the nine steps, in order, with what to expect at each.

  1. Day 0

    Quote request

Call 0447 039 682 or send the form. Glenn or one of the crew answers β€” no call centre, no chat bot. Tell us roughly what you need (driveway, car park, civil package), the suburb, and any timing pressure.

  2. Within a few days

    Free site visit

Glenn or the foreman drives out. Free, no obligation. We measure, check access, sub-base condition, drainage, and have a yarn about what you actually want. 15-30 minutes on site for most residential, longer for civil packages.

  3. Next day or two

    Fixed-price written quote

Written quote emailed after the visit. Fixed price β€” not "from $X" or "around $Y". Valid for 30 days. Includes scope, what's in, what's out, payment terms. No surprises.

  4. When you say go

    Schedule confirmation

Quote accepted? We lock in a start date that suits both sides. You get an email or text confirmation. Typical lead time is 2-4 weeks; urgent jobs sometimes slot in sooner if there's a gap in the program.

  5. Day 1 on site

    Site prep (earthworks if needed)

Excavation, sub-base prep, drainage, edge forming. Done by our crew with our own gear β€” no waiting on an earthworks subbie. Compacted base is the single biggest reason driveways last 20 years instead of 5.

  6. Lay day, early

    Hot-mix delivery

Tippers run hot-mix straight from the local asphalt plant to your site, at temperature. We time loads so the paver never sits cold and the mix never sits in the truck too long. Cold mix laid hot is the #1 cause of weak pavement.

  7. Same day

    Lay + roll

Paver lays the wearing course at the spec depth. Steel-drum and tandem rollers compact to density. Edges trimmed and tied in. For residential, this is usually the same day as base prep. For commercial and civil, lay day is the highlight of the program.

  8. Final day

    Walk-through + sign-off

Once the asphalt's cooled (usually overnight), Glenn or the foreman walks the slab with you. Levels, edges, finish, drainage. Any defects, we fix. Sign-off, photos for the file, and you're done.

  9. After the job

    Workmanship warranty *

BWB stands behind our work. Workmanship warranty period applies on standard residential and commercial work. Exact warranty period being confirmed by Glenn β€” placeholder pending. Call us for specifics on your job. Materials carry separate manufacturer warranties.

* Civil contracts under principal-contractor agreements have separate warranty terms β€” typically per AS 2876 / council DCP. We'll spell that out in the quote.

What's different about doing it this way

Plenty of asphalt mobs cut corners on one of these steps. Here's where BWB doesn't.

Written, not "ish"

Verbal quotes are how people end up with a $4,000 surprise. Every BWB price is in writing, with scope and exclusions listed.

Schedule we actually keep

Booked date is locked in our calendar. If weather hits or a council job overruns, we ring you β€” we don't just go quiet.

Same crew, start to finish

No subbies. The blokes you meet at the site visit are the same ones doing the dig, the lay, the roll and the handover.

Own plant, on time

Paver, rollers, tippers, planers β€” all BWB-owned, all maintained in our West Gosford yard. We don't lose your slot to a hire-plant clash.

Documentation done

ITPs, SWMS, NATA compaction reports, asphalt density cores when the scope needs them. Council and principals get the paperwork.

Site left clean

Tyre tracks scrubbed, excess base carted off, edges swept. You wouldn't believe how often this gets skipped. We don't skip it.

The process in pictures

Process questions, answered

How long does the whole process take?

For a standard residential driveway: quote within 2-3 days of the site visit, work starts 2-4 weeks later, on site for 1-2 days, walk-through the day after lay. Commercial and civil packages vary with scope.

Is the site visit really free?

Yes. Free, no obligation, no high-pressure sales. Glenn drives out, we have a look, we send the quote. If you don't go ahead, no charge.

What if it rains on lay day?

We watch the forecast and ring you the day before if it's looking dicey. Asphalt and water don't mix β€” we'd rather reschedule than lay a slab that fails in 18 months.

Do you need a deposit?

For residential we typically don't. Larger commercial and civil contracts may have a milestone schedule β€” laid out in the quote.

What's the walk-through actually look at?

Levels, edges, surface finish, drainage falls, tie-ins, clean-up. We tick it together. If something's off, it gets fixed before we leave.
