BWB crew, asphalt + civil, Central Coast NSW. Family-run since the early 1990s. Own plant. Own crew.

BWB Crew β€” Family-Owned, Local,
30+ Years on the Central Coast

BWB is family-owned. Glenn Harmond runs it; a small permanent crew runs the gear. No subbies. Every blue hi-vis on site is on BWB's books β€” inducted, insured, with us for the long haul. That's why the work looks the same from job to job.

Glenn Harmond β€” owner / operator

The bloke who answers the phone. The bloke who quotes the job. The bloke who shows up on the day if you ask for him.

Owner / operator

Glenn Harmond

Glenn has been running BWB on the Central Coast for 30+ years. He started in the early 1990s and never left the Coast. He's seen every soil type from the Wyong sand-heavy lots to the Erina clay, every council scope from a single kerb to full subdivision pavement, and every reason an asphalt job goes wrong β€” which is why ours don't.

On a typical week Glenn handles quoting, site visits, scheduling, hot-mix orders, and a fair chunk of the foreman work on bigger civil packages. On smaller residential jobs he's often on site with the crew. If you want him on your job specifically, ask when you ring.

What Glenn personally handles: quotes, scope conversations, foreman calls on civil and commercial jobs, walk-throughs and sign-offs, and anything that needs an owner's signature. He's also the bloke who decides whether BWB takes a job on at all β€” he's said no to plenty that didn't pass the smell test.

Crew structure

Small, permanent, on the same payroll. No casuals, no labour-hire blokes turning up for a day and disappearing.

8-14 personnel

Crew size flexes with job demand β€” typically 8 to 14 personnel across the business depending on what's in the program. Operators, finishers, truckies, an office side. Exact headcount being confirmed by Glenn β€” placeholder pending.

Permanent & long-tenured

Most of the crew have been with BWB for years. They know the gear, they know the council specs, they know the Coast soils. New starters get inducted properly, not thrown in the deep end.

Foreman per crew

Every BWB job has a named foreman who runs the site. That's the bloke you ring on the day if you need something. Glenn backs them up for civil and council jobs.

Truckies on staff

Tipper drivers are our blokes, not random transport contractors. Means hot-mix actually arrives on time, in temperature, at the right load size.

Operators & finishers

Paver operators, roller drivers, plate operators, hand-finishers. All BWB. Same blokes on the screed every job β€” which is why the finish is consistent.

Office support

A small office team handles quotes-out, scheduling and admin so Glenn can stay on site. Phone is answered. Emails get a reply.

What "no subbies" actually means

This phrase gets thrown around. Here's what it means at BWB, in practice.

BWB hi-vis only

Everyone you see on a BWB site wears BWB hi-vis. If someone's wearing a different shirt, they shouldn't be on the job. We don't sub work out to "a bloke who has a paver."

Inducted to the same standard

Every BWB crew member goes through site induction. WHS, manual handling, plant operation, traffic management awareness. Same standard whether they've been here 10 years or 10 weeks.

Insured under BWB

Everyone's covered under BWB's policies. Public Liability covers the work on your site. WorkCover covers the crew. Exact PL cover amount being confirmed by Glenn β€” placeholder pending. Certificate available on request.

One throat to choke

Something goes sideways? Ring Glenn. He owns it. There's no "well that was the subcontracted paver crew, mate." That's how subbie chains end up nobody's fault.

Council-side scope

For council civil work, this matters even more. ITPs, SWMS, density tests β€” all carry BWB's name and sign-off. No subcontracted paperwork either.

Same crew on warranty calls

If something needs revisiting after handover, the same crew that laid it comes back. They remember the job, the site, the access. Speeds everything up.

WHS, insurance, compliance

The bits that bore most contractors and get a lot of them caught out.

Public Liability

BWB holds Public Liability insurance covering the asphalt and civil work we perform. Certificate available on request β€” most builders, developers and principal contractors ask for it as a matter of course and we send it straight back.

WorkCover active

Workers compensation cover is active and current. Crew protected, principal-contractors protected, you protected.

SWMS & site safety

Safe Work Method Statements drafted for every civil activity. Daily pre-starts on civil sites. Hi-vis, eye and ear PPE, induction sign-on for every visitor.

Documented quality system

Our quality system means quotes, scopes, programs, ITPs and ITCs all run through a documented system. Not run off the back of a ute.

NSW licensing

BWB operates under the relevant NSW licensing for civil and asphalt contracting. Specific licence numbers being confirmed by Glenn β€” placeholder pending. Available on request.

NATA & QA documentation

NATA-tested compaction reports, asphalt density cores, material conformance. Council and principal-contractor scopes get the full QA pack with the as-built.

Real BWB hi-vis on real BWB jobs.

Crew questions, answered

Is BWB really family-owned?

Yes. Glenn Harmond owns and operates the business, has done since the early 1990s. We're not a chain, a franchise, or a label slapped on a subbie network.

How big is the crew?

Small, permanent. Around 8-14 personnel across the business depending on what's in the program. Exact number flexes with job demand and we'll keep that number current as it changes.

Will Glenn personally be on my job?

Glenn handles the quote and site visit on most jobs. Whether he's on site for the lay depends on size β€” residential lay days are usually run by a foreman, civil and council jobs Glenn is often there. Ask when you ring.

Do you use any subcontractors at all?

Our core trades β€” paver operators, roller drivers, hand finishers, earthworks, tipper drivers β€” are all BWB staff. For specialist scopes outside our remit (e.g. surveyor, certain traffic-control scopes) we partner with established Central Coast firms and disclose that in the quote.

Can I see your insurance certificates?

Yes β€” Public Liability certificate and WorkCover cover note available on request. Ring or email and we'll send them straight back.
