Concrete & asphalt break-out

Hydraulic breaker on the Bobcat — old driveways, slabs, kerbs, footpaths. Spoil loaded direct into tipper. Fast.

Site clearance

Strip vegetation, pull old fence posts, lift slabs, remove decking and footings. Site graded ready for the next trade.

Spoil removal

Tipper truck on standby for loaded breakouts. Tip fees passed through at cost. Concrete tipped to a recycler, not landfill.

Trenching & pad prep

Trenching for drainage, services, retaining footings. Pad excavation for sheds, slabs, water tanks. Levels to spec.

Backfill & compaction

Once the new services are in, we backfill with DGB20 base course, plate-compact or roller-compact to compaction spec.

Combined with asphalt

Strip the failed driveway, prep base, lay new asphalt — all one crew, one quote. No coordination tax between a demo subbie and a paving subbie.

AS 2601 + safety

Small-scale demo is still demo. We do it properly.

Asbestos screen

Anything pre-1990 gets a visual screen and, if there's doubt, a sample sent to a NATA lab before we touch it. Asbestos work goes to a Class A or B licensed contractor — not us.

SWMS + JSA

Site-specific Safe Work Method Statement and Job Safety Analysis before any breaker swings. Inducted operator.

Exclusion zone

Cordoned site, signage, no public access during break-out. Dust suppression with water cart on dry days.

Cert of Currency

$20M public liability Certificate of Currency, plant insurance, workers comp — sent to your principal contractor or strata manager before the gear arrives.

Whole-house demolition

Needs an unrestricted demolition licence (NSW WorkCover), asbestos clearance, hazardous materials report, full traffic management. Not us — we refer to the right outfit.

Major retaining walls

Walls over 1.5m or any retaining wall with engineering involvement go to a structural demo contractor. We can do the prep around it.

Big tree removal

Tree work over 4m goes to a licensed arborist. We handle the stump grind and slab removal once the tree is down.

How much is Bobcat hire on the Central Coast?

Operator + Bobcat from $145/hr with a 4-hour minimum. Day rate (8hr) around $1,100. Hydraulic breaker attachment adds $25-$45/hr. Tipper truck $130/hr if we're hauling spoil. Tipping fees passed at cost.

Do you do whole-house demolition?

No — that needs an unrestricted demolition contractor licence and asbestos clearance work. We do small-scale demo only: slabs, driveways, sheds, decking, kerbs, retaining walls under 1.5m. We can refer you to demo specialists for full house jobs.

Can you break out a concrete driveway and put a new asphalt one in?

Yes — that's a common job. Break out the slab with the Bobcat breaker, load to tipper, tip to recycler, base prep, hot-mix asphalt lay, compact. One crew, one quote. Usually 2-4 days for a residential driveway.

What about asbestos in old driveways or shed slabs?

Anything pre-1990 we screen visually before swinging a breaker. If there's any doubt, we sample to a NATA lab. Asbestos itself goes to a licensed asbestos removalist — we don't handle that, but we coordinate.

Will I need council approval for demolition?

For most residential break-out work (driveways, slabs, sheds under 25m²) no DA is needed. Anything structural — a wall, a foundation, a habitable structure — needs DA or CDC approval. We'll tell you which side of the line your job falls.

What standards do you work to?

AS 2601 demolition of structures. AS 1657 working at heights where applicable. SafeWork NSW Codes of Practice. Site-specific SWMS and JSA. $20M public liability, fully insured plant.
