What We Do

Pothole Repair

Cut-and-patch. Permanent, not cosmetic.

Pothole repair done properly means cutting back to sound asphalt and installing a properly bonded and compacted patch, not shovelling cold mix into the hole and hoping it holds. We use the cut-and-patch method as standard because it is the only approach that produces a lasting repair. If a recent storm caused the damage, our guide on storm and pothole damage covers the immediate steps to take.

Cold mix fill-in repairs fail quickly because there is no bonding to the existing pavement, no proper edge support, and no compaction. You end up repairing the same pothole repeatedly. Our cut-and-patch method removes all defective material, squares the edges, applies a tack coat and lays hot-mix that bonds and compacts correctly.

We patch asphalt on residential driveways, commercial properties, strata complexes, carparks and industrial sites across the Central Coast. For strata and commercial clients with multiple defects, we can bundle repairs into a single scheduled visit to reduce cost and disruption.

Cut-and-Patch Method

Defective asphalt cut back to sound edges before patching, not filled over.

Tack Coat Applied

Bonding layer applied to all cut edges and base before hot-mix placement.

Hot-mix Asphalt Only

We do not use cold mix for permanent repairs. Hot-mix compacts and bonds correctly.

Fast Response

We prioritise pothole repair scheduling. Most jobs booked within a few business days.

Bulk Repair Visits

Multiple defects on one site addressed in a single visit for strata and commercial clients.

A proper pothole repair vs a cheap patch

Both repairs look the same on the day. One of them is still there in two years. Here is the difference under the surface.

Cold-pack patch Fails in months
A cold-pack patch: a shallow blob of cold mix dropped over cracked base with no square edges and no bonding, lifting at the edges.
  • Shovelled in, no square edges
  • No tack coat, nothing bonds
  • Not compacted, lifts under traffic
BWB cut-and-patch Permanent repair
A BWB repair: defective asphalt saw-cut back to square sound edges, a tack coat applied to all faces, hot-mix placed and rolled flush to road density. Rolled to road density
  • Saw-cut back to square, sound edges
  • Tack coat on every cut face and base
  • Hot-mix, compacted flush to road density

What is the difference between a permanent patch and a temporary repair?

A permanent patch uses the cut-and-patch method with hot-mix asphalt. The defective area is squared off, a bonding tack coat is applied, and hot-mix is compacted flush with the surrounding surface. A temporary repair uses cold mix shovelled into the hole without proper preparation. It will fail again in months.

How soon can you get to a pothole repair?

For most jobs we can schedule within a few business days. For safety-critical defects, call us directly and we will assess urgency. We do not operate a 24-hour emergency service, but we do prioritise genuine safety hazards.

Do you repair potholes in strata and body corporate carparks?

Yes. Strata and body corporate carparks are a significant part of our repair work. We can quote individual defects or do a full defect audit and provide a schedule of repairs to assist with body corporate budget planning.

Why pothole repairs keep coming back
  • Cold mix shovelled into the hole with no preparation to the edges
  • No tack coat applied, so the patch lifts away from surrounding asphalt within weeks
  • Ragged edges left open, allowing water to track underneath immediately
  • Surface raked flush by hand instead of properly compacted
  • One hole repaired, twenty others on the same site left untouched
  • Invoice paid, pothole returns within six months

The same pothole repaired four times in two years. At full cost every time.
