Barrier, mountable, and layback kerb profiles slipformed or hand-formed to AS 2876. Fast, precise installation on residential streets, commercial sites and subdivision projects across the Central Coast. Our slipform machine produces consistent profiles on long straight runs, while hand-forming handles tight radius bends and complex junctions without the delays of rental equipment.

Kerb and gutter is a critical element in any pavement system. It defines the edge of the road, controls drainage, and prevents pavement breakdown at the shoulder. Getting it right requires accurate set-out, correct sub-base preparation, and concrete placement at the right consistency for the profile.

We integrate kerb and gutter works with stormwater drainage structures, inlet pits and junction boxes as part of the same scope where required. This removes the coordination risk that comes from splitting civil trades across multiple contracts. Where a kerb run is long enough to hold the slipform machine on site for days, the drive stops mattering. That takes us up to Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Maitland, and down to Hornsby.

Slipform Construction

High-output slipform kerb for long runs. Consistent profile, fast placement, no formwork delay.

Hand-formed Kerb

Hand-formed for tight radius bends, driveway crossovers and complex junctions.

All Profiles

Barrier, mountable, layback, integral kerb and gutter. We form any standard AS 2876 profile.

AS 2876 Compliance

All kerb construction meets AS 2876 dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements.

Drainage Integration

Inlet pits, junction boxes and transitions to stormwater incorporated into the kerb scope.

Know your kerb profiles

Both profiles are correct. The design drawing decides which one goes where. Here is each one through the section, and why it gets specified.

Barrier kerb Contains and channels
Cross-section of a barrier kerb and channel: an upright 150mm concrete face above a 450mm gutter pan that falls to the invert, tied into the road asphalt, on a compacted bedding layer. 450mm channel 150mm Gutter fall
  • Specified for through roads, carparks and anywhere traffic has to stay on the pavement
  • Upright face contains vehicles and channels stormwater along the gutter to the pits
  • Slipformed on long runs, so the profile and the gutter fall hold consistent for the whole street
Layback kerb Driveway friendly
Cross-section of a layback kerb: a shallow mountable concrete face vehicles can roll over, above the same gutter pan falling to the invert, tied into the road asphalt, on a compacted bedding layer. Driveways cross here Mountable face Gutter fall
  • Specified at driveways, crossovers and residential street access points
  • Shallow mountable face lets vehicles roll over without scraping or cracking the edge
  • Same gutter fall through the crossover, so stormwater keeps moving past every driveway

Council signs off against the standard drawing, not against close enough. We form the profile the spec calls for the first time, so nothing gets ripped out at handover.

The Process

Every job follows the same standard. No steps skipped, no quality shortcuts.

Survey and Set-out

Precise survey set-out of kerb alignment and levels to design drawings.

Sub-base Trimming

Formation trimmed and compacted to receive the kerb base, checked against design levels.

Kerb Construction

Slipform or hand-form placement with concrete at the specified strength and slump.

Curing, Backfill and Check

Curing compound applied, backfill compacted, and final survey check against tolerances.

What is the difference between barrier kerb and mountable kerb?

Barrier kerb has a near-vertical face that physically prevents vehicles from mounting it. Mountable kerb has a shallow sloped face intended for vehicles to roll over in access situations. The profile required is usually specified in the design drawings.

Can you form kerb on tight radius curves for a roundabout or intersection?

Yes. Tight radius work is hand-formed rather than slipformed. We have extensive experience with roundabout kerbing, intersection treatments and driveway crossovers where small radii are required.

Do you supply the concrete, or do we need to arrange that?

We supply all materials including concrete from accredited local suppliers. You do not need to arrange separate concrete supply. Our quote includes all materials, plant and labour.

Why kerb work fails inspection
  • Levels set off a peg that was never independently surveyed
  • Sub-base under the kerb not trimmed or compacted before placement
  • Concrete placed at the wrong slump for the profile being formed
  • Slipform used on tight radii where only hand-forming will work
  • No drainage integration, so water pools at the back of kerb after rain
  • Variation claim on day one when the dimensions change from the drawing

Cracks at the joints. Water behind the kerb. Defect liability stays open for years.
