Sports court construction and resurfacing requires a level of flatness and surface consistency that goes beyond standard pavement work. A tennis court surface with even one millimetre of ponding water becomes unplayable. A basketball court with undulation causes inconsistent ball bounce. We understand the standards that apply and build to them.
We construct and resurface asphalt base courts for tennis, basketball, netball, and multi-sport applications. Each court is a full build by our own crew, from the compacted base and asphalt through to the finished playing surface and lines.

Court resurfacing is a common requirement for community facilities, school grounds and strata complexes on the Central Coast. Where the existing base is still structurally sound, resurfacing the asphalt base layer and applying a new colour coat extends the court life at a fraction of full reconstruction cost. Schools and clubs off the Coast get the same offer. We have already rebuilt a court at Warners Bay on Lake Macquarie, and we will quote one at Newcastle, Maitland or Hornsby.

Anatomy of a sports court surface
The colour coat is a few millimetres of acrylic. Everything it does, good or bad, comes from the asphalt underneath. Here is the full build-up, coats exaggerated so you can see them.
- Compacted base and asphalt pavement 3mm under 3m
Crushed rock compacted to a true plane, then dense hot-mix asphalt finished to no more than 3mm variation under a 3m straightedge. This is the layer we test for ponding before anyone paints it.
- Smoothness decides playability
The coats follow the asphalt exactly. A dip you can barely see holds a millimetre of water, and one millimetre of ponding makes a tennis court unplayable. The court still needs fall to drain, just never more than 1:100, in a single true plane.
- Acrylic coating system
A filler and resurfacer coat tightens the asphalt texture, then two colour coats build the playing surface. We apply it ourselves, over a base our crew has already tested and signed off.
- Line marking goes on last
Lines are painted over the finished colour coats, never under them. If everything below is flat and true, the lines stay crisp and the bounce stays honest.
Courts do not fail at the paint. They fail at the asphalt under it, which is why we build both.

Pickleball, padel and tennis courts
We are court builders based at Somersby on the Central Coast, and we handle the whole court build. Site prep, drainage, the base and the finished playing surface are all done by our own crew, so the levels we set at the bottom are the levels you play on.

What flatness standard do you build sports courts to?
We build to the Australian Tennis Court Builders Association specification and equivalent standards for other court sports. The standard requires no more than three millimetres variation under a three-metre straight edge on the finished playing surface.
Do you supply the colour coat surface, or just the asphalt base?
Both. Our courts are full builds, from the base through to the finished playing surface, so one crew is responsible for the levels from start to finish.
How much does a pickleball, padel or tennis court cost?
Every site differs. Ground conditions, drainage, access and the number of courts all change the price, so we do not quote from a rate card. We visit, measure and give you a fixed price in writing. The site visit is free and we can be there within 48 hours.
Do you build pickleball courts?
Yes. We build single courts and multi-court sets for schools, clubs, councils and private properties, including the finished surface and line marking.
Do you build padel courts?
Yes. We build the base and lay the playing surface. Glass walls and fencing come from specialist enclosure suppliers, and we can coordinate with yours so the base suits their frame.
Can a cracked or uneven existing court be resurfaced?
It depends on the nature of the problem. Surface cracking and minor unevenness can often be addressed with overlay and preparation work before a new colour coat. Significant base settlement or drainage failure requires more substantial intervention. We assess the existing court during quoting.
